Lane Bailey
Lane is renowned for his ability to connect the dots and leverage governments on behalf of businesses around the world. His ability to look at issues with a fresh perspective and find common ground was a major part of his work as President of Public Affairs for the global public relations and government affairs firm Golin Harris.
Prior to his work with Golin Harris, Lane was one of Capitol Hill’s most experienced and savvy staffers. For 12 years, he served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), where his principal focus was job creation and international trade and investment. His role as head of the senator’s staff and Washington office gave him a wide-range of experience on public policy issues, including taxes, trade, health care, technology, communications, product liability, aviation, transportation and a range of competitiveness issues.
Lane works at the convergence of corporate communications, government affairs and capital market strategies for clients such as the World Bank Group, Kaiser Permanente, Boston Children’s Hospital, PhRMA, Waters Corporation, Tetra Pak, Lundbeck, Olympus Medical Systems, Asia Pulp and Paper, Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile, American Legacy Foundation and Toyota. His expertise has led to the creation and activation of public private partnerships to advocate for and advance business strategies that tackle global challenges.
He is a skilled communicator and has developed extensive brand positioning and message platforms for large, multi-national corporations and emerging companies. He has also provided communications training for hundreds of executives and government leaders – from CEOs and Supreme Court Justices to Surgeon Generals and mid-level managers.
Mr. Bailey serves on the board of directors of the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, a not-for-profit international research institute devoted to finding new drugs and diagnostics in the area of human memory. He lives in northern Virginia and is based in Washington. He spends most of his time, however, at his clients’ side.
